Habitat:
Commonly grows on low fertility soils. Found on both well drained sites and swamp / bog conditions. Manuka is found both as a shrub and small tree, commonly growing on low fertility soils. There are different strains of manuka found on well drained sites and swamp conditions. Manuka leaf size may vary considerably but is always distinguished from the related kanuka by the much larger seed capsules and flowers. The seed capsules may take several years after maturing before drying out enough to split open and release the tiny seeds
